We wanted to make it a nice day and stay a warm
and welcome place. Our original plans were to stay at a place called The Victorian Acres RV Park. We arrived only to find that it was closed and for sale. HHHHHMMMMMMM..... Karol said no way so don't even think about it and off we went. We decided to travel into Missouri and stay at a place about 50 miles into the state. Well, what a good decision this was. The park is wonderful and the people that own it are just great. They are treating us like family. They have a Yellow Labrador that they are trying to train as a therapy/service dog. What a neat thought ;-) . We decided to stay here another day. The family is great and the campground is green and has the softest grass anyone could ask for. The people in the office own the campground and this is a family business. The children are dealing with disabilities and the need for a service dog is going to be more important as time goes on. The family knows that so it makes it important to get to know the methods and some helping resources. We have had a great day and finished the evening with the birds singing as the sun went down. There are Eagles on one side of us flying in the air, and Red Tail Hawks on the other. It is like they split the farm land in half and just respect each others boundaries. Boy, nature sure does have a great way of working things out. It is a shame that many times we as people come along and mess thing up. Watch a movie, have some fresh strawberries and off to sleep we go. I will put day 6 in with this because we decided to stay here an extra day to get some rest and to help show this wonderful family some training tips as to how to work with service animals. We can also get them some good web sites and local trainers that are in the national network. That will be a great help to them in the future. Days like this make all things seem worthwhile. Good people, good heart felt feelings, and time to relax and enjoy the natural order of nature. This place is called a KOA campground and RV Park. What a nice place to stay and enjoy a day of rest and getting caught up on things like mail and rest and most important, time shared with the pups and some of our skills and knowledge shared with others. Makes this part of the trip seem so much more worthwhile when we can give back the kindness and hospitality that has been offered to us. Enjoy, more to come, Don & Karol and Company |
