Alfera's Far From Home Journey

And now we leave the Badlands of North Dakota...

Well, we stayed here another day and I am very happy that we did. The Theodore Roosevelt National Park was well worth the wait. The day was not sunny but, it was great. There was an interesting learning experience that lasted for many hours. The beauty was only the beginning of the trip.

We visited a Coal mine that was in the park had burned for over 100 years in some places and in the place where we were closest it had burned for over twenty-five years. The result was a deep burnt orange the clay held. The rocks were a combination of this Burnt Orange and the Black streaks of coal ash that remained. Lightning, a grass fire or other man made fires can start these fires and they can burn for over a hundred years like this one did until they burn themselves out.

The funniest part was when we were just about five feet from this gigantic Buffalo. She got some good pictures but, the funniest part was when the dogs barked and she almost jumped out of the window.

Karol fell in love with all the Prairie Dogs and wanted to adopt them. I am sure that this would be a good thing for the Prairie dogs as they would eat like the spoiled dogs that we have. LOL

Finally we came back to the RV and we are getting ready to eat dinner. Swiss steak and potatoes simmered in Gravy with Green Peas. Sounds like a good way to finish this day. We will leave in the morning and then go to Montana.

Well, it is time for dinner and a movie. Tonight, we watch the good son. A few laughs to take care of the night.

You all take care and enjoy the pictures.

Don, Karol and the kids.
