Yesterday we stayed in Rawlins, Wyoming. A nice place to sleep and then drive through. LOL
Today we mapped out a good day, and a day filled with not as many miles, but, hopefully a fun ending.
We traveled to Laramie, Wyoming. We went to some shops, didn't see anything interesting like I had hoped but, that is OK, the trip so far has been beautiful. Very windy but, beautiful
We then traveled to Cheyenne, Wyoming and went to the Sierra Trading Post. Lots of great things, and some very nice local things to remember the trip and to get for gifts for family back east and out west. LOL We are now stuck in the middle. LOL
At this point we have decided to go to Colorado and spend the night in a place called the Yogi Bear Jellystone Camp Resort. This would cut our travel short for the day, but, we would spend the night in Colorado and also stay at a place that sounds like fun.
Well, here we are, the manager is a bitter old disabled vet that thinks the world owes him a living. He was very rude and wanted to not let us stay there as a result of having Service Dogs. He insisted that he could make his rules as he wanted to and they were more important than the "Americans With Disabilities Act or the Colorado State statutes." I pulled out the laws and informed him of the criminal citations as well as civil violations he was now in violation of and might want to consider before making any other statements. We stayed the night, but only because it was 100 miles to the next place and we were tired of driving. It was funny because this was the only mean person we had met on the road. I was not willing to let him think he could be mean and make his own rules to the public and as to the need to conform to the rights of the disabled.
Kinda funny, in the morning, he started out again on this and I told him we would stay down the road at another facility and we could just get the lawyers involved. I had nothing but time as I am retired and could stay here to deal with the civil and criminal prosecution. He decided that it was not a course of action that was necessary and that we should just part company on the note that he did not like me and thinks that people that use service dogs were only afraid to stand up and take care of themselves. That was a fair agreement as he was just a bitter person anyway. We have all met them and I was not going to change him, that was for sure.
We did sleep well, and the dogs had a good night, but we were all ready to get on the road. Just a couple of pictures of the day, and we hope you are enjoying our trip with us.
After a day like this last one, the first picture is of Karol giving Yogi Bear a hug. Some things are meant to just be pleasant no matter where you are.
The next one is a bust of Lincoln. This was on top of a hill as we were entering Lincoln Nebraska and getting ready to enter that city.
Don, Karol and Company.
